The Zurich Community Trust, the charitable arm of insurance company Zurich, has chosen The Alzheimer's Society to be a national charity partner in a 3 year partnership starting in September 2012. The charity will also join CLIC Sargent and Hope and Homes for Children as the Trust’s third national charity partner.

Biscuit and snack manufacturer United Biscuits last year raised over £275,000 in funds or product donations for charities and community projects. This represents an increase of 65% in donations from 2010.
United Biscuits employees also donated £30,000 via the Give As You Earn payroll giving scheme during the year. The company granted 186 days of special leave to its employees to enable them to work on community projects. The company introduced its People & Community Programme in 2009.
Community projects carried out in 2011 included re-decorating classrooms at a local school, renovating the outside of a local nature studies organisation’s premises, and providing a day of mock interviews to members of the charity CRISIS.

The Sainsbury's Edenthorpe store recently asked their customers which local charity they should support and Doncaster based Firefly was chosen. Firefly was founded in 2005 and helps to assist local cancer patients with transport to obtain their treatment.


Bretton Sainsbury's has chosen South Bretton Pre-School to be its Charity of the Year for 2012.

The charity Loaves ‘n’ Fishes in Sandwell provides Furniture and Household items for people in desperate need has been chosen as Charity of the Year by Blackheath's Sainsbury's in the West Midlands.


Shoppers at Sainsbury's Hamilton have selected Action for Children as the store's charity of the year. The children's charity was nominated after customers were asked to vote for the organisation the store should provide support to in 2012/2013.
