ITV has announced the six charities that will benefit from its 2012 Text Santa campaign, which promotes donating by mobile phone. Age UK, Anthony Nolan, Carers UK, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Together for Short Lives, and Whizz-Kidz will share the income  and raised profile of ITV's second annual appeal which culminates in a live entertainment show on Friday 21 December 2012.

Italian car manufacturer Alfa Romeo has teamed up with fashion house PPQ to sell limited edition pocket squares, to support the national heart charity Heart Research UK.

The South West will be the first region to benefit from a new £250,000 fund for local charities set up by Santander bank. The Santander Community Fund will provide grants of up to £5,000 for projects that help disadvantaged people in the area.

The Wave Project, which is a project which uses surfing as a therapeutic activity for young people with mental health and emotional issues has been handed a grant of £177,000 from the Big Lottery Fund.

A major cash boost for community sport will allow more Scots to get involved with the 2014 Commonwealth Games, according to the Big Lottery Fund. The fund has awarded an extra £500,000 to be allocated between grassroots sporting initiatives.

Two groups from East Kilbride have secured more than £12,000 in funding from Awards for All. The Sexual Assault Victims Initiative (SAVI) received a £9600 grant from the Big Lottery Fund.

Eastbourne Mayor Councillor Mike Thompson two charities are Canine Partners, a charity that provides assistance dogs for people with disabilities and The Rotary Club of Alleppey in India.
