A new Scheme has been launched to help charities recruit investment professionals as Charity trustees.
The partnership will be run by Jane Tully, head of policy at the Charity Finance Group, together with Kate Rogers, client director at Schroders and chair of the Charity Investors' Group.

Aberdeen based public transport operator, FirstGroup, has revealed that its UK staff voted Macmillan Cancer Support to be its new national charity partner.

The Harley Staples Cancer Trust in Leicester has won a new £250,000 Persimmon Homes house in a charity competition to mark the housebuilder's 40th anniversary. The charity was one of over 3,000 nominations for the prize.

A FUNDRAISING campaign got off to a flying start with thousands of pounds raised for charities. Students at Barton Court Grammar School in Canterbury collected £5,000 during the year and chose to share the bulk of the funds between 5 local, national and international causes.
The chosen charities are: Kent Air Ambulance, Pilgrims Hospice, Macmillan Cancer Support, UNICEF and the NSPCC.

Smurfit Kappa UK, the integrated manufacturers of paper based packaging solutions are revelling in the success of what has been the biggest ever UK charity event of its kind for the company.

SERIOUSLY ill children will benefit from a partnership launched by Fulham Football Club and charity Shooting Star CHASE. The Craven Cottage-based club has chosen Shooting Star as its nominated charity for the 2012-2013 season.

The games industry gave 5 charities supporting disadvantaged kids big donation cheques recently. UK video games charity GamesAid recently revealed the winners of its 2012 member vote.
Action For Kids, Jigsaw4U, Small Steps, Special Effect and The Willow Foundation were the 5 charities that got votes from GamesAid members.
Each will receive £36,000 in funding. To be considered each charity had to have a turnover of £5m or less and running costs of no more than 30 per cent.

A Kidderminster law firm will be raising cash for an eye charity that supports blind and partially sighted people.
MFG solicitors will be collecting funds for Sight Concern by offering discounted will-writing from October 8th to 19th 2012.
The Birmingham Road based law firm raised more than £6,000 for the charity in May.

FORMER Mayor of Gedling Councillor Patricia Andrews will present a £10,000 cheque to the NHS Hospitals Trust in Arnold.

The Mayor of Westhoughton, Cllr Ryan Battersby, took to the streets with the Dalek to boost funds for his two mayoral charities, Ovarian Cancer UK and KiDs in Bolton.

An MP has welcomed the award of £1 million to a community scheme from the Big Lottery Fund. The Rural Community Council (Leicestershire and Rutland) will use the cash to encourage people to live more sustainable lives.
