A YEAR of fundraising by Plymouth Flower Club has raised £800 for a local bereavement charity.The club, which has almost 90 members, decided 12 months ago to make Jeremiah's Journey its charity for the year.Next year's (2013) nominated charity is Headway, which supports people who have suffered head injuries.

Organisers of the Rotherham Real Ale and Music festival have ridden into the record books after raising £40,000 for four local good causes.
The money raised at the popular four day event will be divided between the Rotherham Hospice, Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice and the Magna educational trust, with each receiving £10,000.

The discounted fashion and sports brands retailer is the official clearance partner of The Retail Park Venues' merchandise, and has taken the opportunity to boost fundraising efforts for its charity partner Teenage Cancer Trust.

2 cancer research charities based in the North West of England have merged, combining expertise on patients and the causes of cancer. North West Cancer Research Fund and Clatterbridge Cancer Research are now known as North West Cancer Resarch Incorporating Clatterbridge Cancer Research.

Youth group Y Sort-It is celebrating a cash boost from the Big Lottery Fund. The £292,236 award to the group's youth information and support network project will help provide assistance to young carers, aged 12 to 18 years.

Over £26000 was raised for charity by the former Mayor of St Albans, Councillor Aislinn Lee, during her Mayoral year 2011-2012.

Lottery Funding

Thanks to an award from the Big Lottery Fund's Heroes Return 2 programme, 87-year-old George Davies from Monmouth will return to Sri Lanka in January to recall the role he played during the Second World War and retrace his steps for the last time.

Central Ayrshire MP Brian Donohoe was delighted to learn of the Big Lottery Fund's award of funding to a group in his constituency as part of the Awards for All programme. Irvine Sub Aqua Club has recently received a £10,000 award.

Grimsby has been given an award from the Big Lottery Fund will give the north end of the resort £1 million to be spent on community projects in Croft Baker and Sidney Sussex wards over the next ten years as part of its Big Local project.

THE Dover Detainee Visitor Group (DDVG) has been awarded £200,000 in funding from the Big Lottery Fund. The "Reaching Communities" grant will be used by the charity over three years.
