Donations to charity fell by 20% this year due to the
household income squeeze. The public gave £1.7billion less in the year to April
than they did in the previous 12 months - a fall of 15% in cash terms and a
fifth after inflation. The report, based on a survey of 3,000 people, was compiled by
the Charities Aid Foundation and the National Council for Voluntary
Organisations.
