A CHARITY that supports the city's children's hospital has been named as an official partner for this year's Bristol 10K. Wallace and Gromit's Grand Appeal has been named as the running event's official local charity for the next two years.

The Nag’s Head in Gensing Road, which is owned by Punch Taverns and run by Steve and Angie Featherstone, will be selling the 2013 calendar showing the pub’s regulars posing with nothing on but a giant poppy to raise money for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

Facewatch, the crime prevention scheme set up by Gordon's Wine Bar managing director Simon Gordon, has formed a partnership with charity Crimestoppers and the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) to better tackle crime.

SANTANDER UK chief executive Ana Botin will this week join the Mayor's Fund for London as a trustee. Botin, who has led the UK subsidiary of the Santander Group for almost two years, will become a trustee on 1 November 2012.

£65m to sustain and transform free advice for better future. Vital frontline advice services across England will receive a multi-million pound support package as the Big Lottery Fund (BIG) today launches the Advice Services Transition Fund. A VOLUNTEER-RUN project which supports victims of domestic abuse has received a funding boost of almost £250,000. The Domestic Abuse Safety Unit (DASU) in Shotton was awarded the cash by the Big Lottery Fund.

The Windmill Community Centre in Hele, Torquay, has been awarded the Reaching Community grant from the Big Lottery Fund.

Residents in Grewelthorpe, between Masham and Ripon, are celebrating winning funding from the Big Lottery Fund to supplement a donation from the Methodist Church and money raised at local events to convert a chapel into a village hall, community centre and cafe.

Bute Youth Football Coaching's under-16 team will travel free to all their away games for the next 12 months thanks to the award of a £2,000 grant from the Big Lottery Fund. The grant will cover the cost of all the team's away trips for the coming year.

CHARD: Second curry night for mayor’s charity. MAYOR Cathie Morrision was delighted to hear there were 100 people booked to dine at her charity curry night hosted by the Liza Tandoori in Chard.
This was the second year the owner. Shazzad Hossain. has extended his generosity to support the Mayor’s charities - the Scouts, Guides and First Responders.

Coun Paul Byrne and his wife, Ann, raised almost £3,000 through their fundraising events during their term of office up to May this year. As a result they have presented cheques to their chosen charities – the North West Air Ambulance, Longridge Army Cadets, the Community First Responders and St Cecilia’s High School in Longridge.
